The Prophet Years

Privacy policy

Last updated 30 August 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller for the personal data described here is The Prophet Years, an independent archive. You can reach us at [email protected].

This policy applies to the website at theprophetyears.com. It is written to meet Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the General Data Protection Regulation) and the Belgian law of 30 July 2018 implementing it.

2. What we collect, why, and on what legal basis

We do not run analytics, advertising, profiling or automated decision-making. We do not build visitor profiles, and we do not sell or rent anything to anyone.

3. Fonts and other assets

All typefaces, stylesheets, scripts and images are served from theprophetyears.com itself. No request is made to Google Fonts or any other content-delivery network, so your IP address is not disclosed to a third party simply by loading a page.

4. Embedded video

Archive videos are shown as still images until you click play. Only then is a player loaded from the provider (typically YouTube, in its youtube-nocookie form, or Vimeo). At that moment the provider receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. If you never press play, nothing is requested from them.

5. Who else sees your data

  • Our hosting provider, acting as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR, on servers in the European Union.
  • Our e-mail provider, to deliver the message from the contact form to us.
  • Nobody else, unless we are legally obliged to disclose it.

If any processor is located outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

6. Material published in the archive

Where you send us a flyer, photograph, recording or recollection and agree to its publication, the item and the credit you asked for become part of a public historical archive. You may ask us to remove it at any time and we will do so — see Terms & conditions and the takedown route in the legal notice.

7. Your rights

Under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable form, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting what was lawful before you withdrew it.

Write to [email protected]. We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the supervisory authority: Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels — [email protected].

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are protected against automated abuse without profiling you. Administrative access is limited to named accounts.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so on this page and update the date at the top.
